GymCrumbs
Privacy policy
This policy describes GymCrumbs for iPhone and Apple Watch, developed and published by Javier Montes Martinez.
Contact
For privacy questions, contact Javier Montes Martinez at gymcrumbs@monteshq.com. The current public policy is available at https://monteshq.com/gymcrumbs/privacy.html and support is available at https://monteshq.com/gymcrumbs/support.html.
If you email support or send a privacy request, the developer and the email providers (Cloudflare Email Routing and Google Gmail) receive the information you choose to send so that your request can be addressed. Please do not include Health records or workout exports unless you choose to share them. Contacting support is optional and separate from the app's on-device workout features.
Information on your devices
GymCrumbs stores workout routines, exercise names and notes, weights, rest settings, selected exercise images, preferences, routine changes, and completed workout logs on your devices. Logs may include workout times, completed sets, rest intervals, and average heart rate. The Watch also keeps recovery data so a workout and a log awaiting delivery can survive an app restart.
GymCrumbs does not require an account and does not send this information to servers operated by its developer. The app includes no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The developer cannot remotely view, recover, or delete your local workouts.
Apple Health and heart rate
With your permission, GymCrumbs reads heart rate during Apple Watch workouts, displays it on the Watch and paired iPhone, and stores interval averages in local workout logs. It saves workouts that you start in GymCrumbs to Apple Health as Functional Strength Training. Health information is used for workout features, not advertising, marketing, or data brokerage.
You can change GymCrumbs' Health permissions using Apple's Health or Settings controls. If you deny heart-rate access, heart-rate information is unavailable. If you deny permission to save workouts, workout recording and background workout operation are unavailable; you can still edit routines on iPhone and use the Watch's workout steps while the app is open. Revoking permission does not delete previously saved data.
Apple manages Health storage and any Health synchronization or backup under your Apple Account settings and Apple's policies. GymCrumbs does not control Apple's Health sync.
Your paired iPhone and Apple Watch
GymCrumbs uses Apple's WatchConnectivity service to transfer routines, selected exercise images, settings, workout logs, and live workout status between your paired devices. Delivery of routines and completed logs may wait until the devices reconnect. Live workout information, including heart rate, may appear in the iPhone app and on its Lock Screen or Dynamic Island through Live Activities. You can disable Live Activities for GymCrumbs in iPhone Settings.
Photos, clipboard, and motion
GymCrumbs accesses photos you choose through Apple's photo picker, and copies an image from the clipboard when you tap its paste control. Selected images are saved locally and may be sent to your paired Watch. Deleting an original photo does not remove a copy already saved in GymCrumbs.
If you enable the shake-to-advance gesture, GymCrumbs uses the Watch accelerometer to recognize the gesture. Raw motion samples are not stored or sent to the developer. The app also uses local Watch notifications to tell you when a routine arrives; you can manage notification permission in Settings.
iCloud and device backups
GymCrumbs' automatic iCloud Documents synchronization is disabled. The app marks its daily workout log folder and Watch recovery file as excluded from device backups because they may contain health information. These records may be lost if a device is lost or the app is deleted. Other app data may be included in backups managed by your operating system. This does not change Apple's own handling of data stored in Apple Health.
Imports and exports
You can import a workout plan from a file you select. You can export routine, change-log, and workout-log files using the system share sheet. Exports may contain heart-rate averages and other personal workout information. They go to the destination you choose, which may include another app, person, or cloud storage provider. That recipient or service handles the copy under its own policies; GymCrumbs cannot recall or delete it.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you change it, reset the relevant data, or delete the app. In iPhone Settings inside GymCrumbs, Reset workout plan restores the sample routine, Reset workout change log clears the routine change history, and Reset daily workout logs deletes logs stored by the iPhone app.
These reset controls do not delete saved exercise images, all preferences, copies on the Watch, exports, or workouts in Apple Health. A pending Watch log may arrive again after an iPhone reset. To remove all app-owned local data, end any active workout and delete GymCrumbs from both your iPhone and Apple Watch; offloading the app preserves its data. Manage previously exported files, device backups, and Apple Health records separately using the relevant app or Apple controls.
Support email and public pages
Support messages are used to answer your request and handle related follow-up. You can request deletion of messages you sent by emailing gymcrumbs@monteshq.com; any records that must be retained to meet legal obligations are handled separately. Cloudflare forwards support email to the developer’s Gmail inbox. Cloudflare and Google handle these messages under their respective policies. No workout export is required to get support.
The public support and privacy pages are hosted by Cloudflare. Visiting those pages sends normal web-request information, such as your IP address, browser information, and requested URL, to Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site. The developer can access website traffic summaries. The GymCrumbs pages contain no advertising, contact forms, or app analytics scripts. Visiting the website is separate from using the app, and it does not send your local workout or Health data to the website.
Policy changes
If GymCrumbs changes how it handles information, this policy will be updated with a new date. Review it when installing an update.
